Raia is the cinematic music project of Japanese-born artist Mia Watanabe, based in tropical North Queensland, Australia.

A classically trained pianist, harpsichordist and singer and songwriter, she blends classical influences, electronic production, pop and rock to create haunting and epic songs which tell stories, both real and imagined.

Inspired by Japanese folk tales, fleeting things and the human struggle against power, Raia's sound was described by Vault Lab as “a meticulously crafted and ambitious project,” praising it as “worth watching closely, particularly the way it inhabits a hybrid, contemporary space.”
